Sis, I'm slightly older than you and the best advise I can give you has nothing to do with men. It is: Develop your ability to make money; getting a post secondary education and doing well in school is the most reliable path.

Growing up I always resented my Asian parents for being so tough on me to always study and go to a prestigious university. I felt they were harder on me than on my brothers. Now I can only thank them for being tough on me because the greatest weapon a woman can have to defend herself in this world is the ability to walk away.

Only when you have the emotional and financial ability to walk away do you have the ability to choose the man who is truly worthy of your love.
