As far as I saw, they will approach you (maybe) but just for the thrill of getting a married woman.
If a man comes back, it really isn't about love. Notice how it's when he sees you doing better, gaining money love and success? His tiny ego can't accept this and he will soon hit you with that "miss you" or whatever. A happy married woman is a Chase worth. After he got you, he will drop you like a hot potato. I'm not speaking about all men here, just NVM. Cause what kind of "honourable man" would approach an ex lover that's married???
When a grown up and rational man wants to end an relationship in general, he will sit down with you and discuss. And his desicion will be the final one. No bs like "I was wrong pls gimme a second chance." He may ask you from time to time what you're up to or you might have an akward and friendly talk with him if you two happen to meet at a party or similar, but that's it. No second try bs.
PS: bad english, it's not my native language and I apologise

This reminds me of something I told the COO of my company, when he did the executive "we really want your feedback" thing:
"There's a reputation in this business that the only way to get promoted/more money is to leave for another agency. Even I know that leads to resentment and talent drain. So if you're serious about hearing what people have to say, if you're serious about keeping the great team that a lot of people worked really hard to assemble, don't do what my last agency did and leave us hanging with constant promises of increases down the road."*
This is how some people run their relationships, too.
Looking back and thinking "oh if only I'd done [X normal thing]" means either you're doing the relationship badly, or you're blinded by nostalgia (and are about to screw over some other poor person who can't live up to your misty watercolor memories of the way we were).
*For the record, after sending him that message, he came to my office, thanked me personally, and gave me a promotion and 25% increase. Money met mouth.
