When I was young, pursuing a boy was “off limits” and frowned upon. Since this rule was presented to me as a rule, instead of a position (especially one of power), I rebelled a bit.

I now see the wisdom in this rule. That said, I don’t think that the rule was given to us by women who understood why they passed down the rule but more as a tradition. They didn’t understand the “why” behind their “what” and I couldn’t get on board.

I will teach my daughters the rule of waiting for a boy to call and more the”why” of having your own life, why it is so important, don’t call him, knowing that FDS tenets are so important and so much more.

This is hard for me especially because I am learning that all of the women around me were Pickmeshas and I want to do so much better for myself and my daughters.
