I recently read private publication's post about getting "friendzoned" after sex and it made me think of a question.

Context: Girl becomes single after an "abusive" 7 year relationship, they end up having sex, girl distances herself because her brother supposedly died.

My question is about the abusive part.

Most replies in that thread lead to something along the lines of "nexting her" and "not getting with damaged goods in the first place"

The lightswitch effect (don't believe I can share the archived link, plz confirm) basically talks about how once a girl loses interest, she will ignore/cast aside all the good things and start thinking negatively "he never loved me/ never paid attention / abused me / emotionally unavailable" etc etc.

The fact that OP said she got out of an abusive relationship implies that she self-labelled it as abusive. What's to say that this is not just an example of the lightswitch effect (her breaking up and dismissing all the good things that happened over 7 YEARS)? I highly doubt any girl would stay in an abusive relationship for that long so I am just curious why people jumped to the conclusion that she was damaged goods from the start (and that this was not just an example of her hitting the switch)?

(Note: I am not talking about the fact that her family member passed away since the whole abusive and damaged goods stuff came before that)
