This scene from the film "About a Boy" captures the sheer insanity of women

I was watching the film About a Boy starring Hugh Grant and Toni Collete the other day and noticed a scene that perfectly encapsulates the irrationality and hypocrisy of women. It also shows that no matter what a man does or says, most women will perceive him as being wrong and will demonize him without any basis whatsoever, even if his intentions are clearly good. There are other scenes in this film that also show the nature of women, but this particular scene is the best representation.

In this scene, an unhinged single mother becomes angry with a man for hanging out with her son, even though the son clearly wants to be friends with him. The boy forces himself in the man's life because he sees him as a good role model/father figure that he desperately needs.

The poor boy has no friends and gets constantly bullied at school and really has no one to turn to. Even his mother is oblivious about (or refuses to accept) how badly her child is being treated at school and how lonely he really is. She is so delusional that she projects her crazy behavior and her life choices onto her son and then pretends like he wants to be the way he is, even though the boy is doing whatever she wants him to do just to please her.

Without her knowing how miserable her son is, she aggressively confronts the man while he's on a date at a restaurant and blatantly insinuates bad things about his friendship with her son without a shred of proof. When the man explains what's really going on in her son's life, she adamantly denies it. Realizing that there is no point in trying to convince her, he tells her that he won't have anything to do with them again. All of a sudden, the mother changes her tune and tells him that he's completely selfish for not wanting to be in her son's life, even though her son is not his responsibility.

No sincere apology for her false accusation and for publicly humiliating him, she just goes from wanting him to stay away from her son to shaming him for not wanting to be in her son's life. It's absolutely insane. I've personally had experience with this kind of entitled, hostile behavior from numerous women and I've slowly come to the realization that this behavior in women is encouraged and normalized in countless films like this and by society.

EDIT: I also understand that this is a comedy and this scene is meant to be funny, but the point I'm making is that this kind of behavior in women is prevalent in real life and society doesn't seem to have any problem with it, which is unsettling to say the least.
