Just as the title says.

Student loans paid off so no debt. Used car. Engineering degree.

I'm 24 years old now. Been a few years since I found this place. Even with the quarantine (COVID) affecting my job, I can still save a minimum of 20k per year (excluding matched roth 401k, HSA etc). When things get back to normal and I get my raise as is due, the number would only grow. Early retirement should easily be a reality by 40, even accounting for serious bumps in the road. I'm already looking at investments (nothing crazy or aggressive) and plan to invest 20k of it, but only in a few months so I get an emergency fund of 6k (6 months rent and bills) for me. You're probably thinking 6k isn't enough, but my rent, bills (including gas), food and fun only come up to about a grand a month in case I lose my job. This number can obviously increase with inflation. It's real easy to save for me. It also helps that my '05 Camry is a classic beauty. She personifies low-maintenance.

I have a mentor who I've been discussing early retirement with. He's a millionaire who used to have a family, so he understands why I have no intention of marriage (I didn't say I was MGTOW or go in-depth as to why). He's also someone who I've known and received serious help from since my early teens, and is basically a family member at this point. So together we came up with a plan. A very simple plan. Something like half of Americans are "negative" bank-account-wise right? So a simple plan would be to make sure you have an emergency fund saved up, and just invest the rest in stocks or businesses (he has a ton of connections), and hold until it's time; fluctuations are inevitable. We thought about real estate, but then thought about tenants and after doing some research, it's not for me. Looks good on paper though.

I had a goal of 15k savings this year. Completely blew that out of the water. There is something to be said for this sub you know? It isn't perfect, and no apologies are made for that. Rage was a real thing for me when I first came on here. A real serious thing. And there was no place to put besides within myself. But now it's mostly just exhaustion and some degree of sadness. I got a few really fun hobbies per many suggestions on here. The highlight of which is skiing. Spend about 3k a season and don't even blink. Well-worth it for me. Got a few video games, and some travel destinations. Strolling through some mountain passes are up next once everything opened up!

Everything is a give and a take. I found that being MGTOW also has its consequences, just like literally every other decision. I believe the anger and pain come from reconciling and accepting those consequences, whatever they may be. I continue to learn.

I'm in a much better place now after almost 3 years, which you can only take my word for it when I say that this is really saying something. I will continue to come here, even though the urge to has considerably faltered when compared to when I first came on. Perhaps with more small success stories. Stay strong.

A minimum of 20k invested a year should get me to a good place in 20 years time. No wife, no kids... I can almost taste it.

Cheers.
