I got up at 6am this morning and decided to grill a steak on a wood fire. GF was still asleep, she usually gets up around 9.

So I loaded cherry and mesquite into the charcoal starter chimney, lit it, and after it burned down I put a grid on top and the steak.

About 4 min before its done, GF comes out, sits down and asks are we done? I instantly said yes. She agreed. I kept my cool, knowing that this was more important to get right, than my plan to have a cool, quiet morning, enjoying a wood-fired steak for breakfast.

A few months ago she flipped at my reaction to her burning a plastic plate on the stove and smoking out the house. She wanted out then but we agreed to wait on the lockdown.

Things have been reasonable between us since then, but yesterday, she wanted to go look as some furniture and I said no, I don't need to buy any furniture. Of course, it was my money she wanted to spend. She was sour and pissy for the rest of the day.

I guess she stewed on that all night and woke up ready to call it quits.

So in just a few weeks, after she sorts out her next step, My house will be mine again. No clutter, no bullshit, no constant background noise. Finally peace and quiet again. Its been far too long.
