I have been doing this for about two years now. I used to be rather shy and introverted. I’ve spent the past two years approaching many people. Some days upwards of 15 others only 1. I would say I no longer have any approach anxiety and I’m quite good at small talk.

I went on a date tonight and I rly didn’t talk much at all. She was talking the whole time. I don’t mind, I enjoy listening to people and contributing/probing when I’m interested, sometimes teasing or just generally being amused by what theyre saying. Same in groups. I was at a friends house last night with a few others. Once again, I didn’t really talk much.

I don’t think it’s a lack of confidence, when I hear a conversation I’m interested in I’ll contribute and I make eye contact when I speak and listen. I enjoy being around others, and jump on social opportunities when they’re presented, I just don’t talk that much.

I’ve honestly always kind of been like this, but I’ve also always been able to make a lot of friends. I just listen and remember things about people. I’m wondering if this is something I should look to change, should I be aiming to be the more talkative.

I’m pretty young, 20, so I imagine some of this will settle with time.
