How to know where you fall on scale of 1 to 10

I see guys on here referring to themselves or others as 8s or 6s or 9s or whatever but I'm not quite sure where to place myself. How does the scale work? Is it mostly physical or is it about value. I'm 5'9, white, blue eyes, girls always tell me that I'm way hotter in person than in my pictures.
