It's said that "you become the average of the people you spend the most time with". If you have a friend who isn't moving forward in life very much, and has certain tendencies or bad habits that you've worked to reduce in yourself, does keeping them as a friend, even remotely and only seeing them a few times a year hurt your development? I know I don't have to take this literally / as "black and white" advice, I was just wondering if / how much this applies and when, if it would hurt you, etc.
