Oh my god. How can you miss the point that badly? Like I said, even if it was the rarest thing in the world, i as a single woman who has the walk through the city alone should have a right to feel cautious or fearful. If you don’t immediately calculate the risks of a situation it could go badly, especially on first dates or similar situations. It’s normal for women to be scared or think of the worst possible thing, as in “oh I shouldn’t go to his house alone without telling people” or “I’m not letting him drop me off at my house so he has my address” or even “I won’t get in a car with a man I don’t know.” Because murder, sexual assault, and even human trafficking is a huge risk. It doesn’t matter where the stats come from as in it’s irrelevant- (for what I’m trying to say) -the risk is ALWAYS there. No matter if the man is a murderer or not, in situations alone with a man you do not know there is always a risk.

There's a difference between wanting to be able to protect yourself and fearing every person who fits a certain description with your life even before knowing who they are. The latter is like arming yourself with a gun and shooting anyone who is unfortunate enough to bump into you.

Even though I am a dude I have been physically and emotionally abused by many women I have met before I was 17 including my own mother. I haven't been SAed but I have had some girls annoy the hell outta me by pressuring me that I have a crush on them while I wanted nothing to do with them. I know how you feel to a certain extent and I would have agreed with you a couple years ago except for the flipside but I met other women and I realized to judge people because of what others who are the same sex as them (and likely had no association with them) did is counterproductive and unfair to them.
