There is no real value in them, its just corporate pushed bullcrap to get you to spend more money and people actually eat it up and always expect something from you. Even if you're poor and can barely afford to take care of yourself, you are still expected to buy a gift for someone and if you dont youre a jerk.

Now that mothersday is just around the corner i guess I'll be expected to fork out some more money.

Cant i save any money for myself? Oh then whats next? Memorial day, Independance day, fathers day? More money pit holidays...

If i want to spend money on a special someone i will, I'm not totally selfish, but I'm not going to just because a certain day says i should.
