Hello everyone. I've been on TRP for a long time, recently have started lifting and started studying harder in my major (mathematics). My GPA is extremely low because of a combination of a badly designed undergraduate program and my own faults but I'm rectifying it nevertheless. However, a new problem has emerged.
This is going to sound extremely crazy, and difficult to believe, but a few days ago, I tried a new activity out of sheer interest for developing a hobby and downloaded a Digital Audio Workstation for composing music and sat on it for hours trying to figure it out and make music. I enjoyed it really well but I think in the process I've caused some serious changes to my brain.
Because ever since then, I've been having great difficulty falling asleep. I've of course stopped using that software now but the effect persists.
I lie down on my bed, and instead of falling asleep, I go into a sleep-like state, which isn't really sleep. I experience vivid dreaming but when after a few hours I wake up I realize I hadn't been really sleeping. I lie down again and the same process repeats, until morning sunshine breaks in and I realize it's too late to be sleeping now.
This has also happened in the most unfortunate time since my end-semester exams are happening now and it's completely handicapping my exams (I'm afraid I've already earned one F (fail) grade in the process). Also lifting is becoming unnecessarily harder and more painful for me probably because my muscles aren't getting proper rest.
I know this subreddit isn't perhaps the best place to ask about this problem. But I've always found the most non-mainstream valuable advice here for whatever problems I had earlier. I'll probably be contacting my psychologist about this today or tomorrow but I would be really glad if any of you guys could tell me if you have any experience or knowledge about this since I'm going to need all the help I can to tackle this nightmarish problem.
