I always tip the server 20% unless the service is horrible. (i.e., never come back to refill drinks, surly attitude, etc). My thoughts are, at least they are out there working and not sitting at home leeching off the system. And since I only patronize non-chain, mom and pop restaurants, I’m helping the owners stay in business and keep staff from leaving.

To each their own. But I dislike the idea of my money subsidizing someone’s wage. There is an unspoken expectation to tip, and if you don’t, you’re seen as a scum.

Tipping is not mandatory from where I’m from and is not expected of you. I only tip when I have the money to spare and if the person really walked the extra mile for me, such as delivering food during an unexpected rain, something like that.

I usually tip my barber 10 bucks. If a restaurant includes the the tip on the bill thou and it's high, Im not putting extra.
