I've been dating this man for about 6 months now, and it's been fantastic. I've had a few long term relationships, but nothing that feels so healthy and loving and sexy. It seems that we're both in it for the long haul and I couldn't be happier.
One thing I'm struggling with though is that while he's settling into that comfortable, committed, long-term sort of dynamic, I'm still stuck in that obsessive infatuated phase. I want to be around him ALL the time, I'm constantly turned on around him, if he goes into the next room to do something, I have to stop myself following him in there for a hug. He is the kind of guy who does appreciate his personal space and told me this at the beginning of the relationship, but in that first few months where everything is new and exciting we were on the same level. Now he's retreating to his natural state and I'm still here in the OMGlookatyouyou'rethebestthingi'veeverseen state.
He's definitely not pulling away, we're still very close, he's making plans for our future and everything's going in the right direction, I just worry that I'm annoying and smothering him. This is not normal for me. In my previous relationships I've been the one to need my space first and have ended up with men who pedestalized me and smothered me and that's usually why they didn't work out. Is this what it feels like to ACTUALLY be into a man? I think this is the first time I've been with a man who lives in his own frame and it's wonderful but also kind of anxiety inducing lol.
I don't know if I've got any real question here, just inviting comments and thoughts based on your own experiences? Is this a good place to be in? Should I be trying to meet his energy or just relish in this feminine starry-eyed vibe I have going on? Is it normal to still be all fizzy and lusty and enamoured by a man I've spent almost every day of the last 6 months around?
