My attitude before was, why bother? I don't want to attract females. Also, I'm not a homosexual so I couldn't see any difference between a slim man without muscles (a nerd) and someone with muscles (a bro). So how could I prefer one over the other? Might as well take the easy route.

Meanwhile, MGTOWs have been talking about lifting for years. I never understood what they were talking about, but I get it now. There are other benefits to muscle mass, such as a longer and better life.

My goal is not to look anything like the weightlifting enthusiasts. My only goal is to have a little bit more muscle by the end of the year. I can get 80% of the benefits of this lifestyle from just 20% of the effort. The rest I don't care about. I leave those final optimizations to the enthusiasts.

I bought myself a dumbbell. I can buy more weights for it later. It's not heavy right now, but it's a step in the right direction. I have started lifting.
