I'm hoping Joe Biden gets locked up for rape with his own legislation! It's got to happen to a politician sooner or later. But I don't think they will ever charge a Democrat since they write all this draconian legislation. I bet Cumo skates. The news will simply one day stop reporting him with no explanation as to what happened. They distract the public away from it with a new sensation (breaking news).

People these days are just as violent and cruel as they used to be in the past. The only difference is that now we live in a "civilized society" with a past rooted in personal responsibility combined with freedom as long as it doesn't harm anyone else.

That concept is slowly getting perverted and twisted because people want an excuse to hate, attack, imprison, or otherwise condemn someone.

Just look at BLM protesters. Look at maskers attacking anti-maskers. Look at that video of the women slapping men who get onto the women's only subway car in India. It isn't justice. It isn't about doing what is right. It is about justifying the urge to be hateful.

It's one of the modern-day equivalents of burning witches and cutting off the fingers of thieves. Everybody who hears about it or suggests imprisoning a man and believing the woman gets a smug power trip when/if the man's life gets ruined, even if we learn that the man is innocent. What do people say when the man is proven innocent? "Well, I'm sorry, but it happens so much. I don't care about the men dur hur who get imprisoned and divorced dur hur... I care about the women who are raped. Blah blah dur hur... only 1% of accusations are dur hur actually false dur dur..." (an easily disproven statistic. The 1% figure is only the number of cases in which the woman is proven to be lying and considered guilty. Imagine how hard it is to PROVE 100% that woman is lying. We don't know how many men are falsely imprisoned. We don't know how many cases are just dropped and the woman is lying, but there is too little evidence one way or the other.)

Anyway... everyone is prone to this kind of visceral urge to dominate, or crush opposing people. Imagine a group of people you hate... maybe feminists. Imagine them needing your help. Maybe you're a policeman, or a fire fighter... or a guy at the club. Now imagine she is drunk or needs your help, or she just got roofied by another man. Not by you.. by someone else. You know that just the other day she was holding up a sign that read "#Believe All Woman" or something dumb like that on her college campus. Do you get even a slight smugness and urge to shrug and ignore her problem even if you actually would call the police to help her out? That is a small taste of the rage and anger that some people have. Many feminist women would leave a cisgendered white male to literally burn alive and then laugh about it to themselves later. Many are good people still, but that doesn't matter. The loudness and the scariness of the haters overshadows the goodness of the decent people.

Adding to Casra, men want to be the good guy and don't mind seeing their competition fall. They also don't want to stand in the way of a woman who would hate them for it.

I've had a woman try to sink me publicly with made-up shit and everyone just watched. Close friends of the woman joined her side, but no one spoke up for me. They couldn't verify it as false and didn't want to get in her way, probably because they didn't want to be next.

Human nature. Assuming the worst about other people can be a great defense mechanism. You would look like a total fool if you let a guilty person go free, and then they ended up victimizing you or your loved ones.

If someone yells fire in a move theater you are going to either freak out, or at least consider the possibility that there might be a fire....unless of course people cry wolf enough times where you don't believe it, but look because of principle alone.

I am leaning towards the belief that the problem isn't that people take accusations seriously, because allegations such as this will and should be taken seriously. The problem is that there is are few consequences for lying and getting caught, it pays too much to lie and get away with it, and not enough proper fact/witness checking. No one seems to care about how uncredible "witnesses" are is as long as there are enough of them and the lie is big enough. /endrant

Real Answer: for a long time, rape was the subject of jokes. After a woman would be raped, she'd be scrutinized by the news and there were many bad excuses for the rapist (what was she wearing, etc).

This went on for centuries. Most rape kits in police custody will never be tested.

Now women finally are being heard, and everything (like presidential politics) is on a pendulum and always over corrects too quickly. With #MeToo, we entered an overcorrect, as an adjustment to the "what was she wearing and why was she outside alone" era of our grandparents.

For rape cases the man is guilty until proven innocent BUT. How are you supossed to prove that you are not guilty unless the intercourse (if any) has been recorded. You need massive amount of luck to be recorded by a camera that sets you in a location in wich you wouldnt be able to commit that rape.. But yeah. You need a shit ton of luck.
