My mother is currently married to a man who is not my father. She's always relied on men (and others in general) for her financial needs. She is approaching retiring age soon and she has absolutely 0 dollars in savings and assets. The man she's married to is also not good with money whatsoever. He at least owns a home (that he inherited from his parents).

My concern is that as they both approach retiring age, they will become increasingly more aware of their terrible financial situation and will realize that they need help. My mother (knowing how she is) will most likely use her "I'm your mother" excuse to try and leach off from me financially.

I am currently 24, single, working full time, and I own a home that I bought with my hard earned money. I also paid for my way through college.

What should I do? Any advice helps.
