Considering vasectomy. Advices?

Approved because although it is not a "mgtow" topic per se, it is something a lot of men have questions about.

I wanted a vasectomy since I was 19. My doctor told me to get out of his office. (I was in the military at the time).

I tried for years and finally at 37 years old I managed to get one.

The best way to get a vasectomy is through your medical insurer. I have Kaiser Permanente and my co-pay for the procedure was only about $50. You will have to attend a class, sign a SHITLOAD of waivers (I lost count at how many, but almost a dozen of them). But the surgery was easy and took about a half hour. You will have to get the usual bloodwork done before surgery, but the doctor will help you with handouts and very clear instructions.

Make sure they do the orthoscopic method where they just poke two holes in your scrotum, then section the vas deferens, tie the ends, and burn them, the other method for doing the surgery is....barbaric...

From the time I inquired about it to the time I was snipped was about 8 weeks total.

Follow the advice of your healthcare provider when it comes to recovery. SIT IN YOUR LAZY BOY RECLINER AND JUST ENJOY THE MEDS AND WATCH TV for a couple days. Post surgery there is discomfort, but it will dull and subside in about three weeks.

And if you have any, ANY questions for your doctor. Ask. "How soon can I jerk off?" , "When can I get it on?" "How soon are the swimmers all dead in the water?" are perfectly acceptable questions they have probably heard every permutation of 9 times before lunch on whatever day your appointment for a consultation is.

I would love to get one too, i always had a bit of latent anxiety of getting a girl pregnant. I bet that without this worry even sex would be better, always with a condom to prevent STD but at least i can't get cucked!

I got one in my 20s. Bascially, I was into reading childfree sites and forums and had decided no matter what happens, I didn't want kids so I got one. I had a health plan, found a good urologist, and the procedure was done in office.

The only thing is being restricted from doing heavy lifting for a short time and since I work a desk job(Accounting) that isn't an issue for me.

I had to use an icepack for a couple of days, and was given a pain killer prescription, but only used 3 pills. At time time, I was in and out of relationships and just wanted to play it safe.

Once I got the all clear, nobody could oops me and demand child support. Even though I did quit dating a couple of years after that, I don't regret it. Just in case I was ever able to get a friend with benefits or one night stand, I would be safe. With women nowadays having consentual sex and then claiming rape, neither of those options are viable anymore.

It isn't a big deal. You'll have pain for a few days and then have to give sperm samples until you are declared sterile but once all that is done, nothing will be different except nobody can oops you and empty your bank account.

My opinion? Don’t get one. What if you plan on having kids in the future. Yes, adoption is an option, but IDK if you personally want a kid that’s not your blood (culture and shit like that). If you’re getting one because you don’t want to get “Child Support”-ed, then remember that no paternal DNA is more expensive than child support.

Got the non-scalpel version done back in January of this year. It was super quick and painless. I found a great doctor through the /r/childfree sub here in Toronto. It took me about two weeks to heal but there was very little discomfort.
