Hey all, first post here. About 6 months ago my wife and I were in the process of buying a house CFD, the stress of the impending move was making her anxiety flare up, which was trickling down to the whole family. Things finally came to a head when we were arguing about how she handles her anxiety, about three days before we signed the sales agreement, and she said "maybe we should just get divorced". It wasn't the first time either of us had said it, but given the gravity of our situation at that moment and the commitment we were about to make, it gutted me. I told her to go get a divorce if she wanted it so badly, she swore she didn't mean it, offered to go to counseling after I'd begged her for that for years previous... I couldn't do it, it felt like betrayal and manipulation. Two days after that discussion she took the kids and went to her mom's, left me alone to stew in the void that she'd left. I started seeing someone out of sheer loneliness not long after, and of course it blew up in short order as well, as it was just a band-aid on a bullet wound. Now that I've been away long enough to gain perspective and heal, all I want to do is get our whole family into counseling and try to fix the issues that brought us here. She's not about it, she's still hurt because I "moved on" so quickly, and doesn't see that it was just a reaction to her leaving me alone with no recourse or support system. If I can't get her to agree to counseling, how can I start showing her that my "rebound relationship" was not sought out of genuine feelings for someone else but from the pain of feeling betrayed and being alone for the first time in 8 years?
