I've been looking to leave for years but I haven't yet because of kids, and money but enough is enough. We've simply grown in 2 different directions and I'm no longer interested in holding this thing together. We live in Michigan with 2 kids (daughter 12 and son 16), a house, a lease car that she drives (in my name), another that has no payment (I drive), some debt, she earns a very small fraction of our income (< 25%), and we basically live check-to-check.

  • Am I going to be paying for her to sustain lifestyle until retirement even if I try to split kid time 50-50?
  • When I pull the trigger what advice do you guys have about the house? Move out immediately? Try to sell before we separate? I can't afford an apartment and the house.
  • How do you guys work out time with kids when they're super active? Our kids have practices basically 5 nights a week and travel sports on the weekend.
  • Any other Michigan divorce advice for guys?

Thanks in advance!
