I was watching Youtube videos and there was one about "divorce stories" from reddit where someone had made a video with a bunch of posts written by people who were either getting divorced or had gotten divorced. Since I'm on reddit, it made me think, hey, I might just wander over and say a word or two.

So I've always been single, and love it, wouldn't have it any other way. Never wanted to get married, despite opportunities.

So all I really have to say is ..

WELCOME BACK :) We missed you!

Welcome back to having your own life, doing whatever you want, being able to not care what other people think, being able to go in whatever direction you want, and generally having freedom again. I can't imagine what it's like to have a woman in your ear all the time ... forever, ... I've had that while dating and couldn't stand it, so I can't imagine what it's like to deal with it for years or even decades. Sorry that happened to you. But hey, from where I am, looking at posts on this forum, looks like a lot of you are getting back on the good foot and are going to be on your own again. That's great. I know you may feel somewhat lonely because she isn't around anymore, but hey .. no biggie, you'll get over that, and it's a huge amount of fun to be single and do whatever you want, not have someone else's voice in your head, etc, now you can envision a future for yourself and choose to do whatever you want to do. I know you may still have responsibilities, paying child support, etc, but that isn't your whole life, it's just another bill to pay. I know you may want to spend time with your kids, and that's great too. But that is not your WHOLE LIFE ... it's a part of your life, and you deserve to have another part of your life that isn't totally dedicated to service to others and even martyrdom. You can choose to have fun too. You are your own person again. You have your own mind, your freedom, and you can do whatever you want so have some fun and live life too.

TL;DR Welcome back brothers!

To save some bandwidth, if anyone wants to write back saying .. "but I want to be a slave" kind of posts, don't bother .. if you've been married for years or decades, I just see that like you've been in some kind of weird cult and haven't fully escaped yet, "but I love my wife .." sounds like you've been brain washed to me.

EDIT, oh, and as an outsider looking in, it looks to me from reading some of your posts that the biggest thing ya'll need is to sit down and just envision a life without her, to regain your ability to see the world and go out and do whatever you want again. Seems like some of you have been thinking about what she wants so long you don't even pay any attention to what you want anymore. What do you want ?
