I am trying to help my brother to move forward with his divorce, but we are at the very beginning. It has been a very long and horrible road to get here and I want to help him in anyway that I can. Now that he has made this decision he wants to move as fast as possible. He does not have a lawyer yet. We don't even know how to look for one. How do you find a lawyer that would be able to fit his needs? This is something so unfamiliar to us we are not sure how to start. We are expecting this to be a difficult process because of the STBX. He does not want any of their assets (there are a lot), all he wants are his kids and to move out of state (2 hours away) with them. He would be with his family and have plenty of support. He currently has no support or friends where he lives. He has been separated from everyone for years.

I realize things vary state to state with custody etc, but there are many examples that what would be best for the kids is for them to stay with him full time. What is the best way to go about this?

Any advice or direction would be appreciated. xpost to r/Divorce
