So I've been fighting with these habits over the past year (ever since I started reading TRP) and honestly came a long way. I don't play video games anymore but I still watch Youtube videos of others playing, which is just as bad. A couple days ago, I literally spent 3 hours watching random youtube videos (a lot of "trump wont win" complication videos. haha). I felt so disgusted with myself because I knew I could have spent that time so much more efficiently (studying for my college classes, learning how to get better at game, reading books, reading trp, etc). Thankfully, I've gotten rid of watching movies/tv shows and i no longer get urges to watch porn anymore (i masturbate once every week or every two weeks to my imagination; gets me pretty horny/confident and as a result I talk to everyone).
But for the past week, I notice that I'm lacking something that will activate my dopamine receptors (for those who don't know: its the brain's reward center). I am lifeless and I don't want to do anything or socialize. When I wake up in the morning, I don't want to get up (Since today is Sunday, I woke up at 10am and stayed in bed till 12). I am also unhappy. Therefore, i spend a lot of time watching youtube videos, which is a cheap escape for me (I also watch them 2x speed because I often get bored during the video).
What are some other activities that will reduce my addiction? I have been also going to the gym consistently. I notice that i my dopamine is lacking because I just took adderall (which gives a lot of dopamine) to study for my exam today and I feel so much better/productive. However, I know about people getting addicted/abuse adderall so I stay away from it even though I have a prescription (My usage consists of: a single 10mg tablet once a month or once every two months. I did have binge sessions where I took a total of 280mg over the course of 14 days but that only happened once in a year and I took a break of two months before taking adderall again). Therefore I don't believe that adderall is a major problem for me, even though taking it a few hours ago has made me much more productive. What are some actually useful activities that help build me as a person? I already work out consistently and I tend to get good grades. Do I lack in discipline? Any help would be grateful.
