Alright, things haven’t been good for a while, if ever. A month ago she says she wants a separation. Last night she said she’s moving out with the kids.

I don’t want to keep them from her, but I definitely don’t want them gone.

I’m in Oregon. Should I file for custody now? Do I have to file for divorce in order to file for custody? If I file for divorce, even though she wants it, can she make me pay her attorney fees? I can’t even afford an attorney for myself.

I don’t want a battle, but I don’t think she’ll be amenable to negotiating a mutually beneficial agreement.
