Long story short because I don't wanna waste anyone's time. Me (M48) and wife (47) have two daughters who are 20 and 13. Oldest is in University and youngest lives at our home. Our home is paid off. I've lost my job recently and am having trouble finding another. My unemployment insurance runs out soon. Wife works full time still at a good job. We have no debts. She says we are living like roommates and she is worrying about finances if I don't find work soon. She has asked me where I would go if she asked me to leave. She's talked to her close friends about being better off on her own. We've been married 25 years. My question is how do I go forward now knowing that she has no love left for me.
Some folks say DO NOT leave the home. Some do. My thoughts were to just ask her if she wants out of the marriage immediately? We sell the house and contents and split the cash. I have nowhere to go so I thought I'd move away and search for work elsewhere. No relatives or friends I can stay with. She has family that she could stay with while she sorts things out. Moving away and not seeing my kids would hurt but they aren't small any longer and have their own lives to a certain degree. Basically I'm just a factory worker kinda guy with no trade whose close to 50. I can't pay child support if I'm not working and there isn't much work around here. Thus the move. All this is in its infancy as of yet but I need to prepare as best I can because I do see it taking place. Any advice on planning things ahead of time so I'm able to make it? Any tips from guys that maybe wish they had done things different before leaving?
