Hello everyone, I am glad I found this subreddit.

I've been married for five years, we've been together for ten. No kids.

My wife has an alcohol problem, she doesn't drink everyday, but when she does drink she cannot stop and acts crazy..i'm talking about flat out crazy. I do like to drink on occasion, but I am usually the one who drives when we go somewhere so I do not do it when we aren't home very often.

She also has a lot of guy friends and she likes to hang out with them, which I usually don't have a problem with because up until recently, I've trusted her and she's trusted me. About a year ago, she started hanging out with her ex (the one that she dated right before we got together) and I've told her numerous times that I don't really approve of it. I've kind of been passive and let it slide up until this point, because she is a very selfish only-child and makes me feel bad when she doesn't get her way, but I have had my suspicions that she has been cheating on me, even though she vehemently denies it.

The other night, I bought us concert tickets to one of our favorite bands (we still have separate checking accounts) and she proceeds to get so trashed at the show, we had to leave before the headliner finished their second song. I told her later that night I was going to leave her. She has since promised to stop hanging out with her ex and stop drinking. I am kind of torn at the moment, I do not think I can afford to get a divorce (I make about double what she makes), but I really want one at this specific moment in time. I know my mind may change if she starts doing better in the next few weeks. I do not have a side girlfriend, or anyone else I want to date, I just think our marriage is toxic and I absolutely hate her right now.

My question is this, were any of you able to salvage a marriage under similar circumstances, and are you glad you did? Or did you try and salvage your marriage but it still fell apart?
