I'm new to the sub, but I enjoy the sub because "Men's Rights" seems primarily about exactly that. Advocacy and awareness of/for men's rights.
Terms like feminist, menanist or masculinist seem to be very widely misunderstood and misrepresented on many parts of the internet and in society. I find that most people, either advocating for womens rights or mens rights, are actually/usually gender egalitarian.
Not all people advocating for rights for men or women believe in equality, as what is often the fundamental problem found/argued in feminism and menanism, which is where things get chaotic and create division.
That's what I've been pondering lately. I'm glad to hear other peoples' thoughts.
Menanism existed long before Twitter. But, I think you're trying to be facetious(?), and it is only considered "inverse" within opinion or subjectivity?
That is up to debate essentially. Menanism (edit: or masculisism) could be said to be the same as feminism, but for men. Feminism has it's good and bad history, as menanism has it's good and bad history.
But, as the broad understanding in society, specificaly when using the word oposite, one could say "feminism is about women's rights" so the opposite could be "menanism (or masculism) is about men's rights."
But, it it is often said that the opposite of feminism (being about women's rights) is that "menanism (or masculism) is against women's rights."
The definitions of words can make a big difference. Without writing an essay to go further, I'd say that my initial comment stands in the idea that much of feminism/masculism/menanism is a slippery slope dependant on ideology and what information one reads and chooses to believe.
It's a big conversation. Especially with all of the disinformation and misrepresentation of gender politics in today's society.
Is it gender equality, or gender supremacy? That's what it often boils down to.
