Happens all over the place. In the SW trade I have worked in companys where they promoted people by title mostly to the point where they screwed up eg they had

Grad -> Dev -> Senior Dev -> Prinple Dev.

But they promoted too many people to principle from senior and too many dev to senior. This results in basically having to add a Senior Prinple Dev at the end then all job titles were effectly offset by one higher than they should have been. This makes things really confusing because a Senior in one company is a Princple in another or just a Dev.

It makes the people feel kinda good about it. But in reality it does "f*** all" in terms of quality. Most of the results were overall negative in my expirence because people who were "Princple" before they were "Principle" often went on power trips by abusing the title and often the promotions were based on almost random criteria rather than things that actually mattered. So you would end up with a principle that should not have even be considered a senior and such problems but they would have a internal political hammer by their title to make and force really bad decisions.

How is this a necessary step? Women are (and have been) killing it in university. Why would such intelligent, well educated people need such a thing? How do they not feel insulted?

Does this mean the tuition fees will be lowered? Seeing how the quality of the professors' (before someone has a conniption because I said 'quality', I mean that because the bar is being lowered) are lowered.
