Hello Reddit,

I (20M, US) am being forced to move back in with my abusive parents in a couple of weeks for a three-month period (until August) as college is winding down, and I am dreading every minute of it. I feel that I have given my parents multiple chances but they still resort to their old behaviors (see below), and I am wondering what my rights are: can I run away? press charges? Go to the Police (if so, which level [campus, city, state]? I am just unsure of what I should do.

  1. My parents call me fat -- this started over the summer when we got the bikes out and I would dig in my heels about going on it since I had work to do classes, and an actual job, they would grab their stomach and say "We need to work on this!" I found this insulting and I am now insecure about my figure and occasionally would skip meals because of it. My Dr. said I am at a healthy weight (losing 15 lbs in the last year) and not worry about it.
  2. Over this past winter break, my godfather would constantly mention my genitalia every time he or I would pick up a knife or pliers. Again, this made me feel really insecure and ashamed of my body
  3. My parents use the GPS tracking feature on my phone and refuse to let me get my own plan. They use it for "safety" only but whenever they look up the location of others, they can see where I am. I am not trying to hide anything I just feel as if I am a piece of property rather than a human. I do want to get a new cell phone plan, but they threatened to disown me if I went through with it.
  4. My mother had an obsession with popping my acne as a child-- no respect for hand hygiene she would just sit me down and go crazy. This hurt me, and has left several small holes on my face (she claimed it was from my flinching) and that I was not taking care of the situation when I had the same result of clearing them using a washcloth and soap.
  5. My parents also hit me as a kid, and I have an indentation in my head.
