From what Im reading here, sounds like it was just a joke in poor taste and not any kind of stand against anything. The teacher sounds remorseful and now seems aware of what they were doing. I believe there was no malice intent.

Doesnt make it look good though. Even as a joke, i wouldn't feel comfortable with a teacher joking about that. I totally understand the initial anger about it.
