Black fathers aren't statistically more likely to leave their child, just more likely to get a divorce.

False. They are statistically less likely to live with their child and divorce isn't part of the issue. Most black children are born out of wedlock. Seriously, it's a weird statistic. 72% of black fathers have non-marital births as of the study I know. This is compared to 37% of white and 59% hispanic.

Even black fathers who live in different houses from the mother statistically spend more time with their child than white fathers.

I haven't found a study that actually times visitation. But for seeing their children once a month, 67% of black fathers did versus 32% of hispanic and 59% of whites. But when you dig into it deeper it actually seems to be socioeconomic related. Very little racial factor played into frequency of visits. But the higher your education level and income, the more involved of a parent you were if not living with your child.

The idea of the absent black only works if you believe that men who get a divorce automatically leave the child forever.

So I don't think that's completely true based on a number of studies. It does seem to be that you are way more likely to have a non-live-at-home father if black in the US. But he probably has more child interaction than other kids in the same neighbourhood (assuming based on economic class living together).

And then for all the "happy families" that aren't divorced who knows how absent the father is from parenting even though they live in the same house.

You're completely wrong on this. Black men are more than twice as likely as white men to live separately from their children. I'm certain that any legitimate study you can find will demonstrate the same.

This is complicated by the fact that in the black lower-class demographic paternity is often unknown due to promiscuity, women having unprotected sex with men who are not exactly good dad material.

However middle-class decent black men get short changed exactly as their white counterparts do.
