The funny thing is that it doesn't even bother me that much. It's like when I worked at a call centre when I was 20- the first time someone threatens to sue you because the company messed up their bill, you worry. By the 100th time, you roll your eyes. I'm a 40 year old woman who's spent 3/4 of my life with the internet available to me. There is nothing that these little edgelords can say to actually make me feel threatened.
I really do find it interesting that they react this way. "Here is a woman saying something I don't like. I can't immediately think of a way to counter her argument and prove her opinion invalid that way. Therefore I'm going to threaten her life and bodily autonomy."
It's like that joke "That escalated quickly." How do people immediately jump that far at the first challenge to their perceived superiority?
ETA- I would like to report that now my DMs are filling up with positive messages because a bunch of amazing people are trying to balance out the negative ones. You guys are awesome!
ETA again- I had to disappear for a few hours and now I have more personal messages and DMs than I think I can reasonably respond to today. Thank you to everyone for all your positivity!

Friendly reminder to the galls at TwoX. Go to work. Pay your bills. Pretending you are a victim is not a career.

If people are sending her DM's with rape/death threats, then she is a victim isn't she?

That’s like saying you support animal cruelty and then calling yourself a victim because people didn’t like that you support animal cruelty

She was receiving rape and death threats. Even if she supports animal cruelty, sending her those messages aren't gonna change her mind. And anyway, you don't know what her opinion was that caused people to send hateful massages. So you can't compare this situation to animal cruelty.

It wasn’t a circumstancial comparison it was a situational comparison. I’m not comparing jack shit to animal cruelty. The point (that obviously flew over your head) is that if you say something most people don’t like, you need to be prepared to get hate from it, just cause you have freedom of speech doesn’t mean when you say something you’re free of consequences.

I know that if you post something people don't like, you're probably going to receive rape and death threats. But do you think that's okay? I don't. She's just complaining about receiving hateful messages. Nothing wrong with that.

No where does it say she’s getting rape and death threats. All she said is that her dms are a cesspool. They teach reading comprehension at your elementary school?

She says her opinion is that men go right to the rape threat, not that the she’s getting rape threats in her dms

That sounds to me like she received actual rape threats on her DMs. Out of curiosity, I went to check her post history and seriously, what she said was not half bad, she was actually advocating for men to compliment each other.

That's what the word "mansplaining" is for. Women use it to invalid something a man says that they don't like. Words are a feminists principle weapon.

Which is exactly why the best way to handle people like that is to not respond directly to them. Take their comments, record them, put them somewhere like this subreddit where men can see them, and let their words speak for themselves so people outside their little sphere see them.
When I hear the crazy ramp up from someone, my response is to say, "Well, OK." and not give them anything else. Then I quietly cut ties with them if I can, or minimize the impact they can have on my life at the very least.

She has been on this earth for 40 years and still complains about men on the internet. Social media was a mistake. Tbh at least it's easier to know who to avoid so I can't be getting too mad at social media

I've never seen a guy threaten to rape someone just me or?
