Would you marry your perfect man if he was unemployed?

Why is he unemployed? Was he just laid off? Is he actively searching for a new job? What is his skill set like?

No, I wouldn't marry him straight out but I wouldn't drop him, either, unless he had no interest in having a job. I wouldn't support his laziness. And if he was, in fact, not looking or uninterested in working he would cease to be the perfect man in my eyes. I consider an unwillingness to not only work but work hard to be a deep and unforgivable character flaw.

Yes, in a second. Now, let me stress that him being unemployed forever might be a problem. But if was a circumstantial type thing, there would be no doubt in my mind.

I am going to assume I would be working, and in that case I would expect him to do his best to cook, clean, take care of kids while I'm away, ect.

And in the situation that my income was good enough where he stayed home with the kids and did the whole Mr. Mom routine and we were able to live comfortably, I would be 100% okay with that.

The fact of the matter is...

1.) My perfect man is perfect because of personality traits and morals/values...in my opinion his income doesn't have much to do with that.

2.) I don't mind working and I could honestly find happiness whether I was the bread winner or not.

3.) Any woman who says she wouldn't marry her perfect man because of the single fact of his unemployment, is probably getting married for the wrong reasons.

Well, first of all context is everything. For instance my SO is currently unemployed, the reason being that he is trying to start his own business. I would want to know why you're unemployed.

The second thing you have to understand is women have this thing called hypergamy. Which means that they want to have sex with high status males, but they will marry the best deal they can get. Because after all, they can bang high status males, even males above their own smv, but if they are banging guys above their own smv, they won't be able to marry the same guys. So they end up marrying the best deal they can get. This often ends up in unhappy marriages. A woman woefully married to a beta, perhaps one day divorcing him, or in extreme cases even cheating on him for something more fulfilling to that instinct. The question you should be asking isn't "will women be willing to marry this guy", because the answer to that is yes. Women are extremely "willing" to marry because they have huge incentives for doing so. They would have to be pretty stupid to turn down a guy who they've already been dating for 2+ years. The question you should be asking is "would they be satisfied long term doing so". And the answer again goes back to context. It's entirely dependent on whether or not he is a man they can feel pride in.

A man's employment is of no interest to me, I am interested in his capacity for protective violence primarily, physicality and companionship. But then i dont and never will have kids. I don't think the capacity to earn confers higher status in today's world. More often thanks not today it signals the ability to go along to get along. not a trait i admire

Speaking with a particular person in mind, I'd marry him at the drop of a hat. But I'm into spontaneity and don't think too much about the future.

A close friend of mine met his wife while he was unemployed.

Context: he's a software engineer, laid off when the company folded. She is employed part-time and going to community college.

He ended up taking a high-paying job (even by software engineer standards) and they married after dating for a couple years.

Yes, because the man who's a 'perfect match for me' cannot bear being without unemployment, and my support of him would last mere weeks. I can suck that up for love. EDIT: Ok, what's down-vote worthy there?
