Hey guys, this is just a rant I've been holding in for a while and have had no place to vent my feelings, I hope you will hear me out and throw in your five cents as well.

Now before I go into my rant I want to clarify that I live in Mexico, so I can only really form an opinion on mexican women (although mexicans tend to mirror americans on world views so...).

As some of you may know 2020 has been an important year for feminists in Latin America, there have been countless protests sparked by Chilean women who are getting raped left, right, and center. Now a lot of latin american countries have seen protests and riots because of the huge numbers of raped and/or murdered women, which is terrible of course. Now in my opinion this kind of feminism is 100% needed, especially in today's latin america where someone can easily get away with murder. The problem I have with feminism is when it gets too "Buzzfeed". And when women screech and howl equality, but still want special treatment from men.

An example to back up my rant: Because of the protests facebook has become an outlet for pretend feminists to complain about men and generally victimize themselves to the max. I have friends who will post something along the lines of "Women don't owe men anything and men don't have the right to voice their opinion about anything pertaining to women" (which by the way I agree with), but literally two hours later will post something like "Men are responsible for picking you up and dropping you off whenever they go on a date with you." Or "You won't have to ask a real man to buy you flowers, a real man will buy them without having to be asked." Blatant hypocrisies like these really grind my gears. I have friends who will tear a guy to shreds if he dares to say even one word against women and feminism but will post "Happy dumbass day" on international men's day. They literally scoff at the fact that a guy was murdered over his wallet because "Only femicides matter".

They will wish death on guys who dare to watch porn because of the false expectations porn puts on women but will constantly complain that no guy is a perfect prince charming gentleman who will sacrifice anything and everything in order to satisfy their every wish and command.

They condemn fragile masculinity while they haven't picked up a ball or a videogame controller in years. Or in some cases even flat out refuse to learn how to drive because "it's scary". Or would rather die before watching a football match. It just annoys me so damn much that these girls give themselves free passes to say or do anything they want, while the rest of us have to walk on eggshells around them.

One last example is when they post extremely sensual pictures of themselves on instagram and say that men should stop sexualizing women's bodies. I mean of course, it's one thing to be a disgusting perverted creep and antagonize women that are only trying to show off the beauty of their bodies, but it's another thing to simply sexualize a body. And by sexualizing I don't mean being creepy or pervy about it, not even commenting anything (because I know that the thing that bothers these girls are idiots commenting stupid and disgusting things on their posts). By sexualizing I mean perceiving something inherently sexual as sexual, they can dress/upload whatever they want to (hell, God knows I'm no one to gatekeep), but don't ask us to “not to see anything sexual” in a video of a girl twerking in a thong so close to the camera we can practically smell everything. Or a picture of a girl licking her lips with her nipples visible through her shirt. The girls who say that we should stop sexualizing women's bodies are the same girls who post these cringy threads that start off as a recipe but end on pictures of really jacked guys with the outline of their dick clearly visible. If a woman says that she wants to buy a vibrator it's empowering and brave, if a man says he wants a fleshlight it's disgusting and sad.

It's not the fact that women do or say these things that bothers me, I could really care less. The thing that bothers me is that they say and do these things while condemning men for doing the same. Some women have a "I have the same shitty attitude as men but I get a free pass for not having a piece of meat hanging between my legs" kind of mentality.

Now I am very much aware that misogyny is rampant in Latin America and there is a need for feminism, but victimising yourself while condemning the other side for every single thing they do or think doesn't really seem like a way to make change. And before anyone starts, no I'm not an incel, or at least I don't think I am. I have a girlfriend, I don't hate women, it's never been hard for me to talk to women, I have a lot of girl friends whom I care for deeply, etc.

Edit: Grammatical mistake.

Edit 2.0: I just wanted everyone to know that I was permabanned from r/rant for trying to post this exact text, because it was "hate speech". Was told this was misogynistic by a mod who in the same message said "men don't deserve rights". Guess it's a perfect example of what I'm talking about.
