It goes against the unwritten assumption that most folks should meet women/mates from their social circles and that romance should 'just happen.' Intentionally trying to make it happen is creepy and wrong to a lot of people.

Honestly, its because you are displaying courage and high confidence in front of regular people, and in our highly feminized society, non-conformity is looked down upon as it makes others without the same sense of confidence or skill feel inferior. Hell, they give trophies to losers in middle school now so that no one "feelz" bad about losing.

If you've heard statements like that, it's because the guys don't have enough confidence to go up to someone that they find attractive and talk to her.

Same as the "The Black guys are taking all of our women" argument that I have heard before.

I always respond with, "There isn't enough Black men in America to take all of your women. If every Black man in America had a white woman, there would still be more than enough women for white guys. The only ones who would lose out are the true losers. If you had enough game to talk to a woman, maybe she would take up with you and not me."

Keep approaching women and completely disregard what stupid motherfuckers say.

Because most people are breaking social norms and inducing the other person to break their own social norms by participating in your interaction, despite the fact that the media/movies idealizes a self-confident attractive guy whom will sweep a girl off her feet in the middle of daytime. To "cold approach", the execution must be be ripe with flawless reading of the other person's mental state, building rapport, and being socially appropriate in the right context/environment. Basically, on an analytical stance, we're working on a lot variables within an intensified limited amount of time, where a lot of things can fuck up.

Additionally, most people are coming from a mindset of relatively lower sense of security and autonomy (resulting in a lack of confidence), as with most people studying whom need to study this stuff. In turn, it's basically most of the issues is akin to being a salesman pitching a shitty product that he's unsure of, because his self-worth and financial dependency desperately undermines him. You need to be very in control of yourself, alone, and be able to handle the external social situations that come across. If you have this on point, then it's not really "cold approaching" per se any more, is it?

The fact that what has amount to cold approaching, is ultimately a problem it itself when you refer back to it.

It isn't, I cold approach all the time (recently without intent to close) and haven't had a negative reaction in a loong time.

All of the complaints are because "lesser men" dare to believe they are worth 5 minutes of her time and have the nerve to inconvenience her.

I don't get the feeling that cold approaching is looked down on by the majority, but it does feel risky. If you hit on a girl in a public place and mess it up she might make a public scene, and that's a much bigger deal than it was 20 years ago because we live in the age of smartphone cameras, social media and all that shit :/

Is cold approaching viewed as weird? That's almost the only way I've met new girls in my life. I mean, in bars that is pretty much what goes on. I can see how it's still taboo if you do it in a grocery store etc.
