They're upset because 25 years ago the retirement age for getting pensions was made equal for men and women.

But women live longer and collect longer, so to be equal women should actually get smaller pension payments than men, including Social Security in the US

[–]RedditAdminsRcunts44 40 points41 points42 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

so get this, actually that is how it did work, women's pensions did payout smaller because they statistically lived much longer, but since 2012 that was deemed illegal, so men and womens payments out are the same, so these old bags are a complete bunch of entitled cunts they can get fucked.

[–]xdzgor 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm sitting here imagining those were the exact words used by the judges...

[–]RedditAdminsRcunts44 14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"it is the finding of her majestys court that we do officially declare these old bags as entitled cunts, and the court is ruling that as resolution action they can 'Get fucked' "

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Retirement age for women should be older than men. They love longer so it's an equality of outcome thing.

Bitch you can't do 16 hours a week? Fuck you. I have no sympathy.

[–]rjmtl 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, what else do you do with your time? She's a bit old to be spending her day at the mall with her friends.

This kind of shit blows my mind:

Pamela Satchwell had to carry on working post 60 after the pension age rules changed.

She did 16 hours a week as a carer for disabled children and people with ADHD.

But without a pension contribution to support her earnings, it was not enough. Pam's husband then died.

She subsequently lost her house because she could not afford her mortgage alone and she had to sell all of the jewellery her husband had given her.

Before we had kids, we got life insurance policies- $750k on me (plus a small one through work) and $500 on her. We wanted enough so that if one of us die, the other can still raise the kids, pay off the house and not have to worry.

In the mean time, I’m contributing with employer match to my 401k and a bit extra every month in to a cash investment account, and we bought an investment property that we rent out so we have someone else paying the mortgage.

According to plan- there is no fucking way I will need the government to take care of me when I retire. And the amount of money it is costing me to do that is insane between all of my contributions and paying for insurance.

And assholes like this spent every penny they ever made and then co plain that the government is t there to take care of them when they feel like stopping work.

It makes me want to just fucking give up and live like them.

I say the same thing every time congress fails to pass a budget or the president declines to sign it and the feds furlough workers. While I am sympathetic to a small number of young, newly employed federal workers who have not yet had time to save and invest, fuck the vast majority of them. Shutdowns of this type are a normal, healthy, desirable part of our system of diversified political power. There have been 11 of them in the last 40 years. That's one every three and a half years. Federal workers damned well know they are coming. They know they can count on an average of 2.2 days salary being delayed every 3 and a half years. Somehow oilfield workers and construction workers figure out how to pre-pay their mortgages for a couple of months and keep a few bucks In the cookie jar because an adverse weather event might mean they lose a few weeks work. But federal workers squeal that they can't buy food for their babies. These are the same people that borrowed vast amounts to go to name brand universities with on campus water parks that they couldn't afford. Then they had $34,000 weddings. Then boob jobs. And they go to the casino for girls night out. And they have a bass boat in the driveway. They have an average salary of $94k. If you can't buy food because your cheque is a few days or weeks late, it's on you.

But in this case, the entitlement seems to go further. The article is inelegantly written, so this could be wrong, but what I see is 1) I work 16 hours per week at a menial job AND I AM ENTITLED TO A PENSION SUFFICIENT TO KEEP ME AT THE STANDARD OF LIVING MY HUSBAND PROVIDED FOR ME WHATEVER THAT STANDARD MAY HAVE BEEN.

We know pensions provide a percentage of your former earnings. Maybe after 30 years at a trade, you'll get 50%. Maybe after 40 years as a teacher you'll get 80%. But who they fuck thinks they should get pension benefits equal to their own earnings when they worked, PLUS the amount a spouse made when the spouse worked in order that you can keep up with the mortgage you could afford when you worked?

Then, this cunt thinks that because she could once afford a particular house, she is entitled to always afford that house. When I was young, I had a new Corvette every four years, and took awesome holidays every month, skiing in Oregon or flying to Oakland for a Raiders Game. Then I got a wife and two kids, one with medical issues. Now I get a new Mazda every ten years and holidays are painting my house or camping in the neighbor's pasture. Where is my free money from the government?!

It's actually worse than you think.

The UK has had a government-provided old age pension scheme for over a hundred years. It was originally meant to be subsistence living set up in a time when people typically died very shortly after they might have retired anyway.

It used to be the case that women could claim their pension at the age of 60 and men at 65 - this was because men often marry someone slightly younger, and was intended to allow both partners to retire at roughly the same time. This was changed in the mid-1990s, but was phased in over decades - it's only in the last few years that it's started to take effect.

It was all over the news, everywhere at the time. You'd have to have been living under a rock to have missed it.

These women claim to have been living under such a rock. Apparently, because nobody ever explicitly stopped them in the street twenty years ago and said "you do realise you won't qualify for a pension until you're 65?", they think they're entitled to reverse a law change that was brought in 25 years ago.

if there's something to abuse, you can bet that it'll be abused. especially if it their right to do so

[–]footsmellbad 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

then give up and live like them. Go work 50 hours at some Roofing job or some plumber making crap money. you talk and you talk but you couldn't stand to live one week knowing you're one broken leg from losing your house. or one flat tire and losing your job. you're so out of touch with the real world. and believe me, there are more people like that than people like you. you want the nice couch, the nice house, and the piece of mind if one of you dies? then pay for it you spoiled brat

[–]scarmine34 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You fucking moron- I’m the one forgoing the nice couch so I can be self reliant.

You call me out of touch- but im the one living below my means so that I don’t become a burden.

You’re the one that’s out of touch with reality, pal.

[–]footsmellbad 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

listen, i need to be clear here. I know people like you. a lot of people like you. On paper im sure we are very very similar. from about age 28 til now. because before 28 i was one of them. made less than 40k/year. thats 20/hour. grew up in a mobile home with parents that didn't have any money. Understand that that means zero help from parents even though they were supportive. (minus food, mom always had cooking going on. but to come over for dinner food, not take shit out of the freezer home with you food.) and sure, you can have nice things and be stable with your income and not be a burden at 40k/year. But that isn't retirement money.

think divorced dad, one kid. 40k/year is work forever money.

and for the 3 great points you made in your reply i would also like to address.

  1. your "nice couch" that you're forgoing in this case would be your Life insurance policy, your 401k, your IRA. and your second house. how many 40k/year people have any of these things? need i go on?
  2. i meant out of touch like you'll never understand the stress of not knowing whats going to happen because your car wont start. or you need galblader surgery or whatever. and i already know your reply "yeah these people on welfare with brand new Iphones. ect..." sure there are those kind of people, but thats not the majority.
  3. i've been on both side of this fence. its way better over here. but dont hate on these people. the world needs bricklayer and bartenders and trash collectors and the people in the night that make society possible.

im sure you've never struggled or had to made that very hard life changing decision.

as for these women. piss on them. in the US retirement age is what now? 67 or 68. brutal.

[–]CatDaddy09 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bingo

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This may be controversial but I don't actually believe most women want true equality. They define "equality" as making everything that is currently in the favour of men, equal. However, they want everything that is currently on the favour of women to remain that way, destroying the whole definition of "equality".

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They would protest more if instead of raising the women's age, they instead reduced the men's to be equal with the women's age.

[–]dukunt 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They spelled "penisless" wrong 🀭

[–]potatocakesssss 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why are they still paying mortgage?

[–]ABadManInLondon 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Property is crazy expensive here

[–]paula7143 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why they still wearing nappies?

[–]Periodic_Disorder 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

In truth the pension age in the UK is stupidly high for both sexes, and the pension amount if pitiful. I expect if they campaign inclusively they'd get a lot further.

[–]RedditAdminsRcunts44 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

demonstrably false, this is purely to do with state pensions, which are definitely based on age limits you can do nothing about, private pensions are not related there is no age limit on that, you could retire at 30 if you want to with a private pension, provided its big enough. but you can only claim a state pension, at the age the government declares, also the amount is set (max limit) private pension there is no limit.

[–]ABadManInLondon 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love your user name!

One small correction. Unless you are in certain special occupations (ie a professional footballer) , you can only take personal pensions from age 55.
