  1. Not really a gender double standard reverso.
    1. It could be said that she was expecting a 'pussy pass' by breaking the law and carrying a tazer, but I can't really blame a man/woman/child/deerfolk for illegally carrying a weapon if they were actually worried about their safety.
  2. This makes me again painfully wonder why the fuck tasers are illegal in some places. A taser cartridge costs like $35. I usually have no cash on me. If someone really wants to taze me, sure, go ahead, I'll probably scream like a girl and piss myself while being shocked...but it's their loss.

[–]end_my-life_ 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Being tazed can be fatal so it's technically a lethal weapon

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

So? Keep your hands to yourself and no one gets hurt. Lay hands on someone and you get what you fucking deserve.

[–]end_my-life_ 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

So if someone was paranoid for some reason like being stalked by abusive ex or something and if someone bumped into them by accident then shooting them with a gun is justified?

[–]underdogcowboy1 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

If you have that kind of relationship with your ex, then you should probably go out of your way to avoid them. And if you could demonstrate even a shred of evidence to support that claim, then a court would award you a restraining order which WOULD justify shooting them if they violated them.

Stop being an asshole, trying to frame fallacious arguments to defend an undefendable position.

[–]end_my-life_ 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I wasn't talking about a situation where you bump into your ex but just random person

which WOULD justify shooting then if the violated them.

Federal law prohibits any person who is subject to a state protective order from possessing a firearm, provided that the protected party is an intimate partner, meaning a spouse or former spouse, or a person with whom the protected party has had a child.

No I't wouldn't unless he would have had a gun of which the only way of knowing would've been if the ex started waving it around threatening to shoot them

Stop being an asshole

How am I being an asshole?

Defend an undefendable position

In just saying using a weapon that may be fatal should be the last option

[–]HyperboreanAnarch -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The SUBJECT of a restraining order is the stalker. OF FUCKING COURSE a stalker is prohibited from posessing a firearm you COLOSSAL FUCKING TWAT.

THIS is why I called you a redtard and did6nt bother to explain myself. You literally cannot read, understand English or follow a logical train of thought.

[–]end_my-life_ 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

When did I say the subject of a restraining order is the victim you "COLOSSAL FUCKING TWAT"?

You literally cannot read, understand English or follow a logical train of thought

  • UNO REVERSE CARD *

I said that because the stalker is prohibited from having gun shooting him when you see him without him threatening you with gun/knife/coming towards you is not self defense it's murder

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Its self defense BECAUSE they're subject to a RO. The law has determined that they pose a threat to your safety. By violating the RO and not IMMEDIATELY leving the area, their very presence is viewed as a threat. Threats against your life are what justify self-defense.

[–]end_my-life_ 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You clearly don't know what you are talking about

1.When you are in public you don't stare at everyone to find out if you know them so they may even don't know that they are breaking RO

2.We don't live in a movie so when you shoot you are endangering EVERYONE even if you shoot the stalker because the bullet might go through him

3.If you just draw a gun on someone and shoot you will in the news with headline "masshooter killed in _______"

[–]DoctorWinkumDice 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I really hope you’re young and naive and not just clinically stupid.

[–]upsidedownie -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Sure, the only people that own weapons are the people to use it for self-defence. Dip shit.

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

People willing to use weapons to assualt others are going to be willing to own them if the weapons are illegal. Making it a crime to own weapons only penalizes people who obey laws. Dip shit.

[–]upsidedownie -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Definitely not true. Otherwise the UK would be rife with gun crime, like the US. But is isn't, owning a prohibited firearm is severely punished and as such there is barely any gun crime. If anyone could legally own a weapon, the crime drastically rises.

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Funny, the violent crame rate in the UK is higher now than it was pre-ban. I didn't say that criminals would go out and get guns if the guns were outlawed, I said that outlawing guns would penalize otherwise law-abiding people, and the violent crime stats in the UK reflect that.

Violence is violence. Does being stabbed or run over by a truck somehow make a man less dead than if he's shot with a gun?

[–]Skebaba -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Being bonk'd on the head by a thrown coin can potentially be fatal, so coins are illegal because technically a lethal weapon

[–]vemiam 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I honest to God know this girl. She's from Heywood and I went to school with her brother Frankie. Personally, I don't think she was in fear for her safety. She is the biggest loudmouth ever that threatened to use that taser on an old man.

I've seen her start fights with children and full grown men for no reason

[–]potatocakesssss 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When u need a taser to live ur with boyfriend I think its time to break up. Never live in fear. It only gets worse after marriage.

[–]powderST2013 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"It is designed to incapacitate people, and that’s the reason why it is illegal. There really is no excuse for having it."

I guess the possibility of being attacked and/or raped isn't reason enough?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I just learned that you’re not allowed to have a taser in the UK. wtf

[–]RobedSnake7 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ikr?

[–]ProvidesWrongSource 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Self defense being illegal is fucked.

[–]EuKZKSKq 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link

To be honest, it is understandable if a woman starts carrying some form of protection when they are trying to get away from an abusive partner. Too many examples of women being killed by abusive exes. Sure, ideally that protection should be within the law.

[–]bananabreadvictory 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There are people that believe you should be able to defend yourself and those that don't. The funny thing is she most likely had a 10-inch knife in her kitchen which is far more dangerous but because it has other uses it is perfectly legal. Making tasers and pepper spray illegal is rediculous and it only hurts honest citizens.

[–]late2theparty27 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah that is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone can easily use anything around them as a deadly weapon. Just think of all the ingenious ways prisoners make shanks.

[–]neovip3r 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Can't have tasers or pepper spray that's fucked up

[–]dingoperson2 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

To be honest, men are killed at far higher rates than women in pretty much every country in the world. If being in mortal danger justified having a taser, men should be given preferential treatment and possibly even government-funded tasers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homicide_statistics_by_gender

Too many examples of men being killed.

[–]Ludwig234 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

Well and 97% of all killers are male. But the parent comment talked about abusive spouses and ex-spouses so this statistic doesn't really matter right now. What matters is that 77% of the victims killed by spouses or ex-spouses are female.

Personally I think no civilian should have guns or tasers. Pepper spray is fine.

[–]late2theparty27 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

If you could make that a reality(all citizens now have no guns), how would you combat the illegal production of weapons and distribution? The laws would put law abiding citizens at a major disadvantage. Look at our downstairs neighbors in Mexico, they are not even remotely capable of protecting themselves. The only way to protect yourself down there is to get with the program (gangs) or get dealt with. There is no mercy or remorse from evil bastards.

[–]Ludwig234 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

I understand that guns are a part of your culture but USA does very poorly in almost every crime statistics in comparison to the rest of the first world.

[–]late2theparty27 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

My culture? I'm not sure what you mean by that. I live in the U.S.A. Statistics can be manipulated. I don't just take everything at face value. I am still curious about what you would do about the criminals who wouldn't even bat an eye at your well intentioned laws. You can't fight violence by submitting to it.

[–]OnyxsWorkshop -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Bruh, are you seriously trying to say that every civilized country is faking their crime stats but the US isn’t?

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

What a racist comment. Also, the UK has a higher violent crime rate than the US. Just sayin'...

[–]OnyxsWorkshop 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

uh... racist...?

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

To suggest some peoples are more civilized than others, as though they were incapable of the same thought processes and moral judgement as you.

[–]Ludwig234 -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I mean your county not you specifically. The rest of the world seems to be doing just fine without semi automatic weapons.

USA should I my opinion gradually make the gun laws stricter. Idk start with open carry or something I really don't see any reason for it.

[–]late2theparty27 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

ok but we already have an example of your suggestion. It's Chicago, and it's bad.

[–]Ludwig234 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's weird that one of the riches countries can't manage to fix their criminal problems.

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You had me in the first half, then you went full-retard.

[–]Ludwig234 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Instead of just calling me a retard tell me why you disagree.

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Even armed with pepper spray the average woman is no match for the average man in a fight. By denying people access to efficient methods of self-defense you are increasing the probability of violence towards them being successful.

[–]Ludwig234 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well the rest of the world is doing just fine without guns.

[–]HyperboreanAnarch 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They really are not. People in the UK are prosecuted for speaking their minds, homosexuals in almost all of the middle east are imprisoned and murderd by their own governments for no crime other than being gay, china literally uses its political dissidents as living organ banks, Putin has his critics in Russia locked up without anything more than a kangaroo trial at best, and Venezuela has been so thoroughly looted by its own government that its economy is in shambles, despite being the most resource-rich nation in south america. People are literally starving in the streets.

EVERY nation needs more guns and less gun control. The only reason to advocate for less guns and more control is that you WANT tyranny, because you're stupid enough to think "it'll never happen to me, I'm on the side of the government" The reason those places even exist still is because the oppressed have no way to effectively fight back.

[–]Ludwig234 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol

[–]dingoperson2 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well and 97% of all killers are male.

How on earth does the gender of the killer matter for the killed?

How on earth does it play any role for the victimhood of men, the resources needed by men, the need for self-defense by men, the justification for having tasers by men, or the injuries suffered, whether those who inflict that victimhood are men or women?

Please, explain in detail.

But the parent comment talked about abusive spouses and ex-spouses so this statistic doesn't really matter right now.

It doesn't matter what the parent comment talked about, when the justification is the need for safety. The need for safety exists outside of relationships as well as inside, and men have a greater need for self-defense than women.

[–]CatDaddy09 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I am all about the ppd.

But damn weapon laws in the UK are fucking weird.

[–]forge44 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Could you actually look any more anglo

[–]SantaPachaMama 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hmmmm both seem to be very very toxic people tbh. I wouldn't be surprised that they both were at each others throats all the time. She deserves the punishment and I only feel sorry for that poor baby

[–]Growdanielgrow -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I knew this was England before even clicking anything. She’s got that British ugliness.
