On a smaller scale, yes. I can't imagine the emotional turmoil he's going through but I imagine he has a strong support system and attorneys fighting for him that will pave the way for other men that go through something similar.

My boyfriends brother is in a similar situation right now. He broke up with her, and she attacked him. He grabbed her by the neck and threw her on the couch. She called the cops and had him arrested. He has prior drug convictions, so in CO, this is 3rd strike. Hes looking at 20 years. From what we are hearing, shes moving full steam ahead with charges, and out for blood.

The only reason she was mad, is because he paid 90% of the bills. No more free ride.

If you are a drug addict who is willing to marry a woman who is well-known for being crazy, then yeah, you aren't safe. To be safe from this shit you should improve yourself so that you could have your fair choice of women AND actually be very choosy with them. Signs of emotional instability and potential for abuse aren't things that can be easily missed after living with a person for a few years.
