Police said that Snavely also served alcohol at the party to 13 minors, though WOI reports that court documents show those charges were dismissed.

So fucked up that people are getting jailed for throwing parties now. I wish I could bust dildos in the asses of everyone who made that happen. And just leave them there. It pisses me off.

[–]puaka 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not exactly 'for throwing a party' - but playing Russian roulette without people knowing they are playing too. Everyone in there can get terminally Ill and give it to a lot of people as well. It's a terrible stupid and irresponsible thing to do.

So yeah. 'Going to jail for throwing a party' is as much out of context simplification as 'getting shot for driving a car' but not mentioning that you went on a killing spree beforehand.

[–]former_Democrat -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What do you mean without other people knowing they were playing too? Like people didn't know that there was a pandemic? LOL

[–]bresra2500 -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

It's what happens when one doesn't deal with a Pandemic proactively. It could have been a month or so without restaurants, bars and large groups of people and wearing masks indoors for a couple of months. But no the whole thing is a hoax!… Muh FREEDOM!!!!

FYI I'm from Austria and that's exactly what we did and we don't even need masks at the grocery store anymore. All it took was a little bit of proactive inconvenience to save ourselves a world of pain.

Being proactive has requirements that nearly half of the US population can't meet, especially the President, intelligence greater than 80% of humanity's average.

From all the surveys I've seen most Americans are for social distancing, telecommuting, masks and so on. The problem is the fact that they can't act the way they know will keep them safe and "flatten the curve". They need money, so they go out to get it. The fact that there isn't a safety net in place to give people the financial security to allow them to do what's right is the problem.

youre getting downvoted but everything you said is correct

This is the type of ignorance that is commonplace in the regressive alt-right shithole of a society we have here in America.

It’s what sucks about following this sub and r/pussypassdenied.

There are level headed people like you who can see women’s privilege while still having a reasonable outlook on freedom, equality, public health and safety, etc.

And then there are borderline fascist wingnuts like this guy who hate every group he’s not a part of and thinks this is a space for espousing that hate while crying about basic logic and reason like wearing a fucking mask or exercising basic safety precautions during a global pandemic because it’s tyranny to upset his feefees.

I apologize for his behavior, it doesn’t represent us all. I also regret that we can’t have level headed discussions about genuine privilege without insipid misogyny like this guy’s being constantly present.

Hey idiot because Covid can spread to everyone and then you can carry it and infect a ton of others.

Ignoring Covid is like ignoring a hurricane but worse.

[–]former_Democrat 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

LOL. If I'm in a hurricane I have a lot higher chance of dying then if I'm in the room with someone infected with that stupid virus with a 99.3% survival rate

[–]bresra2500 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

All right you seem to be confused about the actual problem here.

The issue isn't that a lot of people die from this. It's that quite a lot of people need medical and even intensive care. Health-care systems have a limited surge capacity, hence: if lots of people have Coronavirus at the same time the healthcare system gets overwhelmed and people who could have lived will die of very treatable diseases because the hospitals are full.

The second issue is that we are just seeing is that very often patients don't just recover, they develop heart and lung issues because of the disease. So even if you belong to the 99.3% chances are you won't come out of it unscathed.

[–]former_Democrat -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It's actually very rare that somebody doesn't recover from coronavirus and it also happens with the flu so it's nothing new.

If you'd like, I can give you sources showing that the flu causes blood clots, stroke, heart brain and lung damage. Also, many many more young people die from the flu. It kills children and yet we live with it

It's actually very rare that somebody doesn't recover from coronavirus and it also happens with the flu so it's nothing new.

We don't know a lot yet. None of us do because it hasn't been around long enough. What's different here is the sheer numbers.

If you'd like, I can give you sources showing that the flu causes blood clots, stroke, heart brain and lung damage.

I won't dispute any of that

Also, many many more young people die from the flu.

In absolute numbers sure but many more people have contracted a flu virus. Hell even if the Coronavirus is far less deadly to children than the flu it's still killing adults in droves.

According to the CDC during the 2018/2019 flu season 34.200 people died, 490.600 were hospitalized and they estimated that 35.5 million people were sick and 16.5 million people sought medical care because of it. The Coronavirus is now at 3.5 million confirmed over 269.000 hospitalizations and over 137.000 Dead. And it did that a lot more quickly than the flu.

It kills children and yet we live with it

We really have no choice in the matter, it's here whether we like it or not. But we do have a vaccine against the seasonal flu every year and it while not perfect (together with the natural immunity from repeated exposure to different mutations) helps tremendously to break the chains of infection and keep the number of flu cases on any given day manageable.

The issue isn't if or how much worse it is than the flu! The issue is that unlike the flu we have nothing we can do to slow the spread except social distancing and masks. And that if you don't do it the hospitals are going to be so overtaxed that they will have to start deciding who lives and who dies.

The facts show that it's not just another flu!

Edit: the Coronavirus hospitalization numbers are likely much higher since not every state publishes cumulative hospitalization numbers

[–]former_Democrat 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, but you have to put it in perspective though. 650,000 American's die every year of heart disease. And the vast majority of people who died of coronavirus are in their 80s. Not that those people don't matter, but you know life expectancy has come a long long way. We were not supposed to live that long but modern medicine and nutrition and the safety of Our Lives makes our life expectancy crazy high. 99.3% of people who get coronavirus live. That is last chance of death than a car accident.
