No; no, I think prison will be fully appropriate for them.

In fact, if we really believe in "affirmative action," there should be longer sentences for women than for men at least until MRAs in UK are satisfied that judges' and juries' collective "consciousness has been raised." Of course, I also think actually doing that would be perfectly stupid.

(There's a syllogism in here somewhere--I just.....just can't quite......)

If the point of this article is that non violent first time offenders shouldn’t be put in prison. I agree but not just for women. Non violent male first time offenders should have same opportunity

I think it’s sexists. If they dug into the numbers, there would probably be more men where drug addiction poverty and social de-route has led to crime. Especially since 90–95% people incarcerated are men.

The ideas suggested in the article do work but it’s totally unnecessary to gender it.

Even if most female offenders commit crimes due to poverty and mental health that's no excuse and what about the ones who don't suffer from poverty and mental health just let them walk free plus people who have no reason to commit a crime will do it because they need money or food or it's their only way of living and murders and rapist most of the time suffer from mental health male or female I think that people suffering from mental health should get help but they should also pay for their crimes

It all comes back to the belief that a woman can do no wrong; if she's involved in criminal behaviour then we need to find a reason for them to be the victim.
