Virgin shaming has always been a very common phenomena, if someone spoke out about men's rights in the period from the big bang through about 2018, they would be called a virgin. The assumption being that somehow they only cared about men because they had never been laid, this view saw sex with women as some kind of mind altering hallucinogenic, upon exposure a man would be completely changed and would no longer care about his rights.

The incel shaming men currently experience is just an evolved form of this.

In the incel shaming paradigm, rather than a mind altering addiction, sex with women is seen as a vaccine against toxic masculinity. If only these men and boys had not pushed women away they would have been - I can't resist saying it - vagaccinated, but now it's too late and their creepiness and misogyny has become chronic.

The same tired old 'you can't get laid' that MRAs used to call 'virgin shaming' and the wider culture would pretend did not exist, has now gone mainstream as 'incel'.
