The only way this flies is if the court feels that the decision to leave a career and raise children was imposed. It utterly strips agency from educated, adult women who are absolutely contributors to that decision.

They do something similar in Germany. You can stay at home for 5 years with a kid, and the taxpayers (read: mostly men) pay in full pension contributions for this poor victim mother.

I know this would piss the judge right off, but I would ask him why I should have to pay REAL money in the name of her IMAGINARY career?

By the same thinking that 'she' MIGHT have been a super-lawyer, she also MIGHT have embezzled client funds, or fucked a client, or botched a case, lost her license and had to go wait tables.

Thankfully, Burgerland courts are not places where this sort of appeal to the fantastic is routinely entertained.
