Ive been with my boyfriend for 5 years (most of which we were in a LDR), we are both 24, and finishing university. A while ago he started mentioning that he thinks that we will get married etc.

I study in our hometown dentistry and well, I am pretty well off. I have 6 apartments, land and a big house in the suburbs. My mother, aunt and uncle are dentists so I will just automatically inherit a very big practice.

He comes from a much poorer family and that has always been an issue for him.

He studies in the capital of our country (civil engeneering) and now, when at last he was going to go back to our hometown for good his mother started a massive attack on him about how he should stay there to make more money.

He has always felt self countious about finances and this is really hitting his soft spot. And he has started to throw it in conversations casually a lot, enough that I am really worried...

I want to be with him, I would glady marry him but I would not with him in a LDR for a couple more years. Thats just too much to ask of me.

I would really appreciate some RP perspective on this, because I see no way of getting out of this situation without somebody making a big unpleasant compromise .
