When the group of female presenter's got together to complain about the earnings gender gap at the BBC it stood out how they were all jolly hockey sticks. Most of them from very middle and upper middle class families and communities, most of them privately educated and arrived at the BBC via top universities. There were no working-class women amongst them. McGovern stood out as a rarity, a female presenter from a working class background with a working class accent. For her troubles she was all but sent to Coventry.
