All humans are violent by nature.

Men are trained to restrain their violence, usually by their fathers, unless it's something important. Women are no longer trained to be restrained and we are watching the results of that throughout society.

Whenever something is present in a wide variety of different and unrelated cultures, I would feel a bit critical about calling it nurture. It can be, to a degree, but if it is, then there is usually a certain inborn element in creating the environment that produces it.

First of all though, there is the fact a majority of people are not violent to start with, male or female. Yes, most people likely will have at least been violent as a child once or twice, usually within their own gender peer group, but the majority of people in most nations seem to be non violent, unless they need to be.

And then there is the very funny thing that when you look at violence that is at least perceived to be "low risk", women actually are catching up in a mere heartbeat. beating children? Beating a family member in anger? All behavior with pretty high female perpetration.

I think where social factors actually start making a huge difference is this: the ease of being in a position where you feel secure in using violence without repercussion.

You usually get that when you are physically superior to your victim or have a weapon or act in a gang like group.

It might really be interesting to see violent crime perpetration normalized for such things as height, muscle mass and IQ and see if that might not quite change the picture as well.

Incidentally, remember the sub LeftWingMaleAdvocates? I posted this over there and it got removed for "demonizing women." I suspect that sub is on its way to becoming another MensLib. Somehow, everything left wing manages to get taken over by SJWs.
