This is the problem I have with this case:

"These were blameless young children who were plainly vulnerable and ought to have been able to rely on their mother to protect and nurture them.

This absolute assumption that the woman is always the better single parent is the issue.

relying on a woman to give / provide anything is utter stupidity, usually...
