I try not to bash and I try to be sympathic, but it can be hard.

The other day, I was riding my bike with my wife, and we were behind a pack of Millennials also riding bikes. All of their bikes were heavy, inefficient retro bikes, some of them had handlebar moustaches, some had old-style racing helmets from the early years of the Tour de France, the girls were riding in dresses with frou-frou pink and lavender bikes with baskets. They were riding four wide and vehicles were lined up behind them. One truck drove over the curb to get past them he was so frustrated.

When I eventually rode past, I suggested that they ride single file to allow other vehicles to pass, so that we could all share the road. It was normal cycling etiquette if you weren't traveling at the same speed as the rest of the traffic. It was like they hadn't even considered that angle.

I had several take aways, one was that the sheer indifference to other people amazed me, the second was that image clearly mattered more than function to just about all of them, and the last was that I felt sorry for them because this was their social outing. They had to organize a ride through a stranger, in order to find other strangers to ride with.

If anything, the WORST hit men are the Millennials. They've grown up with a steady diet of bullshit they've been fed since birth, and now have to live with the results. Some of those men had clearly never done a lick of physical labour, had zero athleticism, and were skinny like rails. Some of them were my height, but verging on under 100lbs. They were like children, and it's hard not to see that as a full on rebellion against the 'manly men' stereotype.

Gen Z here and I'm pissed off at just about everybody. I also can't wait to be blamed for literally everything
