When I played soccer as a kid, it was mixed sex teams and I don't remember any of the guys saying that the girls couldn't play. Feminist media creates a distorted reality like those flashback scenes in Captain Marvel of men/boys constantly berating women/girls telling them to be more girly. Most guys I knew growing up respected Tom Boys. Fathers in general rarely discourage their daughters from playing sports. Feminists ignore that fathers tend to over-indulge their daughters in much of what they do (which spoils a lot of them leading to the princess syndrome). Instead, they create a false narrative of sexist men installing barriers that women must break through and you have women who didn't experience this believing that they did. It's crazy!

My favorite part of Captain Marvel's background is when she is told by a male that she is going too fast on a go-cart and she ignores him then crashes into a wall and explodes. Later the scene is repeated to show her standing back up as a triumphant moment of never giving up rather than learning from the experience and controlling her speed. I think it's an unintentional hilarious scene that sums up modern feminists who ignore any male advice (mansplaining!) then figuratively run headlong into a wall and explode (then blame the patriarchy).

This is why feminist-inspired characters are rarely interesting because the writers don't understand character development. Male characters (and well written female characters) typically get trounced in stories as part of their character development as part of their learning experience. If they didn't fail, they would never succeed. Karate Kid gets his ass whooped until he finally mastered himself. Luke Skywalker repeatedly got his ass whooped especially when he rushed off to face Vader before he was ready. Rey on the other has not faced any failure as she beat Kylo Ren in their first fight and bested Luke Skywalker. She's learned nothing from her flaws because she has none. The same with Captain Marvel. All her experiences were her overcoming obstructing sexist males not learning from humbling experiences like male characters do.

Captain Marvel was one of the worst Marvel movies to date. Bad acting, dialogue, writing. Brie Larson's "acting" was standing around looking smug, and the plot was generally uninteresting as it tried too hard to tie together the marvel universe. Even the overtly feminist parts were just poorly executed, like the bit about baseball.

Then Brie Larson's got the nerve to act like she's some feminist icon because she made a bad movie that people pretend to like so they won't get shamed and called misogynist. You aren't breaking any "gender barrier" that Linda Hamilton didn't already and better.

I didn't think the movie was that bad, although it certainly wasn't that good either. Marvel's character encounters very little actual struggle in the film, making her character arc relatively boring.

It'll be interesting to see how her role as the center of the post-Endgame MCU plays out. I think she stands to fail, simply because the Infinity War films are the culmination of the MCU thus far, and I think a lot of the hype for the MCU in general is going to die down now that that story has concluded. If so, I'm fairly certain Marvel, Larson, and most of Left-wing media outlets are going to blame misogyny, but it'll really be just bad timing. In a way Captain Marvel has been set up to fail in this regard. Although Brie Larson and the Captain Marvel publicity team haven't helped matters at all.
