Let's face it, guys: nobody gives a shit about how feminism harms men. Boys have been falling behind for decades but all that has to be done for this to be ignored is a specter of a woman in distress. But men aren't the only casualties of the feminist movement. It harms woman and girls as well.

One of the prominent ways of harm is rape hysteria. We hear all the time that one in four women will be raped in their lifetimes. (Or is it one in 5, one in three... the narrative seems to change) Women are in constant danger of rape. Sexual predators lurk around every corner. And if you are raped, the justice system will victimize you all over again. "Only 1 in 250 rapists ever serve time", for example.

I've listened to women in their 40s and 50s talk about how afraid they are of being raped when heading home at night. Took a lot to keep my big mouth shut. I'm not saying it's impossible for something to happen but it's pretty damn unlikely. Generally, female rape victims fall between 15 and 25, with only around 20% over 30. (according to the NCVS) And they tend to be poor women and in many cases, alcohol is involved.

Any talk of minimizing risk gets a response of: "Don't teach women to protect themselves; teach men not to rape!" Notwithstanding the fact almost all men who rape know damn well what they're doing, it doesn't lower the risk at all. It's just meant to spark outrage. I would say that we should also teach women what to do if they are raped. None of us have any guarantees in life and predators deserve to be brought to justice. But this is seen as victim-blaming.

This hurts women as well as men. I find it interesting that the actual occurrence of rape has plummeted over the last 30 years, but the fear of it has only grown. The feminist narrative not only ensures that men are treated as potential predators, but actual rapists will evade justice.

Second, the #MeToo movement has gone well beyond a movement and into hysteria. I remember Christina Hoff Sommers saying at the beginning: "It could be a positive movement... if it's not hijacked by the ideologues". But that's exactly what happened, to my lack of surprise.

I've seen many articles on this forum and elsewhere speaking about the reluctance of male managers and bosses to mentor women. Of course, we hear the usual: "If you didn't do anything wrong, you've got nothing to worry about." Many men here have found through personal experience how untrue this is.

Yes, most women will not file false charges of harassment or freak out because of a compliment. A few will and a man has no way of knowing which woman is going to be that one. Even if he's officially cleared, the accusation is going to taint him. Why take the risk?

Then there's the complaints of "Where have all the good men gone?" At the same time, men have been bombarded with messages of: "Don't flirt with us, don't compliment us, leave us alone, piss off..."

Men have been adjusting to that. The macho jerks are never going to care, but the more decent men hear these messages and then back off. They decide: "I'd better not; she probably doesn't want to be bothered." The socially awkward are especially hard hit, since it's a lot harder for them anyway and women are more likely to consider these people dangerous. Decent guys back off, while the jerks are indifferent to these demands. Again, something that harms women.

There's a lot more that could be said on this topic. A major issue in particular is seeing their sons and male siblings on the receiving end of policy. And the fact that boys in single-parent households are far more likely to be violent, especially those physically, emotionally, and sexually abused by their mothers.

But I suppose it's not that important. After all, we've got issues like mansplaining and sexist air conditioning to be concerned about.
